Namhyun Kim

South Korea


Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1994. She begun playing violin since the age of 6, and studied with Prof. Namyun Kim and Sangwoo Park at the Pre-College department of KNUA (Korea National University of Arts). Kim graduated from the Yewon Arts School (Middle School) and entered KNUA as an Art Prodigy in 2011. Kim was active as a concertmaster of KNUA Orchestra and graduated there in 2015. She is currently studying with Prof. Adam Kostecki as a masters student at Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media.

Kim has received many awards, including prizes at Hankooilbo Violin Concours and Asian Youth Music Competition. She made her debut in 2008, at the age of 12, at Kumho prodigy Violin Recital, and subsequently performed at Rising Star Recital of GMMF, Open Concert of Dongri Cultural Foundation's Music Hall, and a concert with Chongju Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also attended various music camps and master classes, including Great Mountains Music Festival, Ishikawa International Music Festival and performed for Elmar Oliveira, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Kyoko Dakezawa, Mihaela Martin, Joan Kwuon, Joel Smirnoff, Wolfgang David, and Ulf Wallin.
