DongHyun Kim

South Korea


Donghyun Kim was born in Seoul in 1999. He is currently attending the Korea National University of Arts, studying under Professor Namyun Kim and Junghyun Kim. Kim gave his debut at the Kumho Prodigy Recital when he was 13 years old. He has been awarded by numerous international violin competitions and prestigious national competitions, such as 2nd prize at the 2016 Enesco competition in Romania as the youngest participant, 1st prize winner at the 2015 Tchaikovsky competition for young musicians in Novosibirsk, 1st prize at the 2014 Leopold Auer competition in Saint Petersburg, and the Ishikawa Music Award from Japan Ishikawa Music Festival in the same year. Kim has appeared as a soloist with many Korean orchestras such as Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Gang-nam Symphony Orchestra, Peong-chang festival Orchestra etc. Kim is also an enthusiastic chamber musician. Kim plays on the Joannes Baptista Guadanini ,Parma, 1763 violin on loan from the Kumho Asian Cultural Foundation.
